If you are preparing for IIT Advanced, remember one thing clearly: this exam is not only a test of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. It is a test of your patience, discipline, mental strength, honesty and consistency.

Many students dream of IIT, but only those students reach there who are ready to work when nobody is watching. IIT Advanced does not ask, “How many books did you buy?” It asks, “How deeply did you understand the concept?” It does not ask, “How many hours did you sit?” It asks, “How honestly did you think?”

You may be living in Mumbai, Delhi, Kota, Patna, Lucknow, Jaipur, Pune, Navi Mumbai, Kharghar, Seawoods, Nerul or any small town. Your location does not decide your rank. Your daily discipline decides your rank.

Many students say, “Sir, I study 3 hours daily and I want IIT.” I always tell them: if you are an average student and you want IIT Advanced, then you cannot fool yourself. You need deep study. You need long sitting. You need revision. You need test analysis. You need to solve difficult questions again and again.

IIT Advanced preparation is like a vector. Magnitude must be strong and direction must be correct. If magnitude is high but direction is wrong, you will work hard but not reach the target. Many students become afraid after seeing difficult questions. But remember, difficult questions are not your enemy. They are your training ground. Every tough question teaches you how the examiner thinks. Every mistake tells you where your concept is weak.

Do not feel bad after a low score in a test. A test is not your final result. A test is a mirror. If the mirror shows weakness, do not break the mirror. Correct the weakness.

After every test, ask yourself:

Which questions did I leave?
Which questions did I attempt wrongly?
Was the mistake conceptual, calculation-based or due to pressure?
Did I read the question properly?
Did I revise the wrong questions later?

Your rank improves not by giving tests only, but by analysing tests honestly.

Many students compare themselves with toppers. Do not waste time in comparison. Some students started in Class 9. Some started in Class 10. Some have strong coaching. Some have strong school background. Some have family support. Some do not. Your journey is yours. Your duty is to improve daily.
